Money with a Mission

What is your mission?

Highlight:

We had an awesome time in fellowship with one another, sitting and listening to what the Lord had for us through the Holy Spirit in the speakers on the weekend. Our sessions with Ps. John was life changing (more on that later). My highlights, however, came from Eric and Nikki Deaton’s sessions. It was awesome to hear about their backgrounds and where they came from both personally and in their marriage, naturally and spiritually. With that being the background and context for what they shared, they shared some powerful stuff with us. Eric shared a few things his mom told him growing up and this stuck with me: “Only what is done for the Kingdom, lasts forever”. You cannot take your treasures on earth with you to heaven, it means nothing to God, even our works are like filthy rags to the Lord. We must use the money God has blessed us with as a tool for the Kingdom and not our own fleshly desires. Prior to Eric, Nikki spoke to us, this weekend was dubbed “Money with a mission” and this flowed out of Nikki’s spirit: “Where you spend your money and attention, is what you’ve set as your mission”, that question still rings with me, do I have my tent pitched towards Sodom like Lot? Or am I setting my mission with God.

How my mindset has changed about money:

Understanding that money itself is not evil, the Lord wants us to prosper, it’s how you treat the money that God is after, the love of money is the root of all evil not money itself. Being able to trust God with your finances, walking in His footsteps and being obedient to what His word says about finances (tithing etc.) and giving when He prompts you to give is another massive change of perspective. It is not about receiving, God will always give freely, so you too must give freely, trusting that God will provide.
