Break Free Project

Blessed To Be a Blessing

Coming into the two days, I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t know what the place looked like, or the people I’d encounter. The only thing I could go off of was our briefings before the trip. I knew it was going to be two days of hard labor. (Context: the church was reaching out to Break Free, a Christ-based rehabilitation centre with people from all walks of life, where we helped build a church and got a few things done around the farm that would otherwise take a long time to complete). It was an incredible experience. It was such a blessed time to contribute to a facility such as theirs. Pastor Carl and his team were awesome in their facilitating and helping make sure the day went smoothly on their side of things. It was such a pleasant experience to work in an environment where things got done efficiently and with the most fun!

I think it’s safe to say that a lot was learnt throughout the experience. You gain gratitude for all of the freedoms you are afforded, and to see

Comfort Zones Challenged:

There’s an old adage that says: “Too many chefs in the kitchen.” This is something that you learn from playing team sports. In essence, it means too many captains and not enough role-players. This was something I was concerned about heading into the project. It turned out to be a marvelous time and everyone worked well with one another, everyone “played their role” well!

Highlights:

Getting to contribute to a project that is God’s work is always going to be the highlight. On top of that, it was awesome to see one of the MiXchangers that had been in Break Free previously go back and enjoy their time there, knowing that this time they have the victory of what they went through through the power of the blood of Jesus!
